Tear gas
Tactical use of tear gas by Delhi Police causes terror among the local population
People suspected of a possible gas leak were travelers and residents on the Geeta Colony-Pusta Road in east Delhi.
Due to an anti-riot practice conducted by the Delhi Police in the Yamuna Khadar area on Saturday, numerous residents in and around some areas of east and north Delhi complained of eye irritation and breathing difficulties.
Tear gas was used during the drill, according to the police, which may have contributed to the chemicals floating in the air. The drill is being conducted to prevent any mishap during the farmers' demonstration on 13th of February. An informed police official stated, "The drill was conducted quite far from residential areas."
Tear gas is used in the exercise to scatter the restless throng. In certain residential neighborhoods of Coronation Park, located in the outer north of Delhi, the gas dispersed. Few people called in for help as a result. However, upon the arrival of police and fire department officials, nothing unusual was discovered at those locations, a senior police officer stated, wishing to remain anonymous. The officer continued, "It's possible that the wind direction has changed, irritating the eyes."
The president of the Federation of East Delhi RWAs, BS Vohra, stated that speculation about a potential gas leak was sparked by the reports of numerous persons experiencing breathing problems and burning in their eyes close to Geeta Colony, Laxmi Nagar, and Pusta Road. Because the police did not provide any information about the situation for hours, "many people panicked due to it."
