Elon Musk Talks About Using Drugs, Which Helps Him Run Tesla

A few weeks ago, billionaire Elon Musk made headlines for his usage of hallucinogenic medications like ketamine to treat depression. But according to sources, his drug usage raised concerns for numerous board members at Tesla and SpaceX, which might have serious repercussions for both his health and the enormous company empire he leads. According to a CNN article, the millionaire has now spoken out about his usage of ketamine, saying that it has enabled him to oversee the company.

The remarks from the Musk were made during a journalist Don Lemon interview. "There are times when I have sort of a... negative chemical state in my brain, like depression I guess, or depression that's not linked to any negative news, and ketamine is helpful for getting one out of the negative frame of mind," Mr. Lemon was quoted as saying.

Musk went on to explain that he had a prescription for the drug from "an actual, real doctor" and takes it "a small amount once every other week or something like that". "Ketamine overuse makes it difficult to accomplish tasks, and I have a lot of stuff to complete. I don't really have a circumstance where I can stay psychologically numb for a long time because I work 16-hour days most of the time," he stated.

When Mr. Musk claimed he is "almost always" sober while writing late at night, he did not specify if he was talking to ketamine or another drug. Mr. Musk stated he does not drink and does not "know how to smoke pot."

Additionally, the billionaire declared that he does not believe drug use will affect his government agreements or shareholder connections. "From a Wall Street perspective, execution is crucial. Are you creating investments with value for investors? "As an investor, I should continue taking whatever medication I'm taking, as Tesla is worth nearly as much as the entire auto industry combined," he stated, adding that he thinks his depression runs in his family.

People who have witnessed and others who are aware of the world's second richest person's drug use assert that he has used LSD, cocaine, ecstasy, and psychedelic mushrooms, often at private parties around the globe where attendees must sign confidentiality agreements or give up their phones in order to attend, according to a January Wall Street Journal report.

The report stated that Linda Johnson Rice, a previous director at Tesla, chose not to compete for re-election to the board of the electric vehicle maker in 2019 after growing increasingly upset with the billionaire's unpredictable behavior and his drug use. But according to Mr. Musk's lawyer, Alex Spiro, he "regularly and randomly undergoes drug testing at SpaceX and has never failed a test."

When Mr. Musk was spotted smoking marijuana on the Joe Rogan Show in 2018, he got into trouble with NASA. Employees at SpaceX were subjected to arbitrary drug testing as a result of these worries regarding Mr. Musk's actions and their impact on the business.

Federal contracts would be broken and business policies at SpaceX and Tesla would be violated if any illegal drug use occurred, according to US government authorities. In the publicly traded Tesla, the board is charged with overseeing management on behalf of shareholders, and this would call into question Mr. Musk's leadership role there as well.
